Enjoying a quiet moment, fall mountain retreat – Chalet Shiloh, Boone

I’m a photographer, specializing in weddings, elopements, and engagements. My photography is colorful, sharp, and unposed.

Serving All of North Carolina

One of my favorite ceremonies was with an amazing couple with a beautiful story. During the months prior to the wedding, everything that could go wrong did go wrong, including the wedding dress getting damaged a week prior to the wedding, a death in the family, and a bridesmaid friendship fall-out. However, through all of this, they kept such positive attitudes and just kept revising their plans.

On the day of the wedding, there was perfect weather, and everything went very smoothly. The groom had written a song about their life together, and after the bride’s father walked her down the aisle, he played his guitar and sang the song to her. There was not a dry eye in the house!

When Wendy received a camera as a high school graduation gift from her sister, she never even considered that photography could become a career. She carried a passion for creating keepsakes with her camera throughout her friendships, a career as an esthetician, and marriage to husband Roy, and eventually, her hobby became Wendy Jade Photography!

Looking through her lens, Wendy loves discovering the unique quirks, gestures, and personalities of her subjects and preserving those precious memories. It’s all about the people plus details, and knowing that life is about the little moments.

Wendy says she lives her life out loud and in color, capturing photos that truly represent the client with her bright, colorful, un-posed style of shooting and editing.

Q: What’s your title/position in your business?

A: Wendy Solomon, Owner and Photographer

Q: What is your favorite thing about elopements?

A: I love elopements! Since they are more intimate, they are more relaxed than larger weddings, and everyone present tends to fully participate in the festivities. I love to photograph the big moments – the ceremony, the first look, the kiss, the reception – but also the details like the rings and closeups of the flowers. The simplicity of an elopement day offers more opportunities to get all of those photos. A smaller-scale wedding allows me the opportunity to get to know the couple and their families, which in turn gives me more understanding of what they will value in their photos.

Q: What’s a fun fact about yourself?
A: I’ve been skydiving and bungee jumping – I always like a good adventure!

Q: Tell us about your favorite elopement!

A: It was a stunning event in the mountains in Boone. It was simple but elegant, with bold colored flowers contrasting with the fall foliage.

Q: Is there a wedding detail on your bucket list?

A: I love occasions with animals, so if you are incorporating alpacas or goats or horses – or even your own pooch – please let me photograph you all!
