“I know who I WAS when I got up this morning, but I think I must have been changed several times since then”

― Lewis Carroll, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass

When two people fall madly in love, it’s an awful lot like falling down the rabbit hole. Love is a wild, crazy adventure, and we rarely know where the path will lead us next. Taylor & Alex chose to embrace this whimsical nature of life by diving into marriage with their closest friends in attendance, incorporating the lessons of Alice in Wonderland and the style of a southern brunch.

Their intimate ceremony and brunch reception took place on the front lawn of Walnut Hill’s farmhouse. The couples said their vows under an Osage Orange tree with a floating drape and floral arch as their backdrop. The officiant beautifully compared the unique and special adventure of marriage to the journey Alice took to Wonderland, including in their unity ceremony:

“Today, you will utilize a symbolic action to represent your coming together as a married couple. You see the table spread out before us. Just as the tea party in Wonderland, the items on this table has many different things. It has tea to keep you hydrated and to provide warmth on cold days. There are sweet treats to remind you of the sweetness of your love, and to provide nourishment and sustenance. The setting is beautiful, to remind you to enjoy the beauty around you and to find beauty in the simple things in life. And remember that from this day forward, happily ever after is now in your hands.”

After the ceremony, the couple cut their crepe cake and sampled the rainbow macarons and matcha tea cupcakes. As guests mingled, they were entertained by an up-close magician. At the bar, specialty drinks added bright color and whimsy, with names like The Mad Hatter and Chamomile Cocktail.
