This design was created during a Green Wedding Guild shoot. Planners who are a part of the Guild put together their own team to create a vision to execute. Bill Scott Pavilion was honored to be chosen as the host venue for what turned out to be such an eclectic shoot!

“Emily with Emily Katherine Events decided to go with a daring and striking theme for this shoot,” Annie Bovitz of Bovara Studios says. “You’ll notice non-traditional wedding garb, seashells, and neon silk flower ornaments, paired with softer, vintage table settings. Joint Venture provided the perfect jewelry to match, and each piece was really a statement in and of itself.”

Photographer Raven Shutley Studios says, “All of the vendors we worked with were equally dreamy, each coming with their own ideas so we could fully collaborate and create together – something that I love doing whenever possible. It was so much fun to see everyone’s take on the theme! I came to Emily with some loose concepts of things that really appealed to me: bringing some tropics to the East Coast, bright colors, and a fun and playful look, and she completely transformed that into a full-fledged reality.”

“I had so much fun organizing this retro tropical neon-inspired styled shoot!” says Emily Thomas, owner of Emily Katherine Events and Co-Founder of the Green Wedding Guild. “Finding vendors to collaborate on shoots is always fun, and I especially loved working with everyone to create a look that showcased sustainable wedding options, like rental flowers, vintage jewelry, and rented attire!”

Kayce Ward with Bill Scott Pavilion loves that the shoot brought a “fun pop of color into the natural surroundings that the pavilion grounds provide. Emily did an amazing job combining such a variety of colors to reflect the couple’s love story. Emily used the fireplace under the pavilion to stage an ‘It’s You, It’s Me, It’s Us’ faux ceremony area.”

“The Bill Scott Pavilion was a great venue to develop this shoot around,” according to Raven, “with its open-air pavilion, tons of gorgeous green space, and adorable lake, we had a ton of awesome locales for photography and for organizing the different parts of our pretend wedding.”

Annie says, “Erin & Alexandra were a dream to work with, their love was so sweet and steady; this, matched with the vivid coloring and edgy outfits (helloooo, leather jackets!), created a bold yet tender feel throughout the day of filming. I wanted to capture all of that boldness in my video, while still highlighting the softer and tender moments. I’d say that was my favorite part of the shoot: the dance between the bold and daring, with the subtle and steady.”

Emily says she’s “also a huge fan of the laid back, wear-what’s-comfy style the brides showcased. Just because it’s a wedding doesn’t mean you have to wear white, and dresses certainly aren’t for everyone! Finding rentable attire that this real couple felt natural and comfortable in really made the shoot stand out to me!”

“Working with the Green Wedding Guild, and specifically Emily Katherine Events, on this styled shoot was SO much fun,” Raven says. “I’d never worked on a styled shoot where sustainability and eco-consciousness were at the forefront and not only did it turn out beautifully, but I learned a ton along the way! Getting to watch a sustainable and ethically-minded planner work their magic on a wedding was such a dream.”
