We are a team of NC based planners and event designers based in eastern NC but always willing to travel! In addition to planning and design, we offer baking, calligraphy, and balloon decor services as well as bartending and event staffing services. It is our goal to meet each couple where they’re at in the planning process and help them create an event that is unique to them.

The Sisters

My absolute favorite intimate wedding was about 5 years ago. We had two sisters reach out, saying that they were both planning to get married the same year. Their dad had given them each the same amount of money for their wedding, and they could choose to supplement the budget with more money if needed, use a portion of the money for the wedding and the rest for a downpayment on a house, car, etc.

Sister #1 took the money from her dad, and she and her fiance supplemented the rest. They had 200+ guests in a beautiful ballroom with a band and literally all the bells and whistles.

Because Sister #2 knew she would see her whole family a few months earlier at her sister’s wedding, she opted instead to celebrate only with those that she was the closest with. She took about 1/2 of the money from her dad, planned a wedding for 19 guests in her backyard, and used the rest to put a downpayment on a house.

Rather than spending the day going table to table spending 5 minutes talking with each guest while the day passes in a blur, they were able to remain fully present and enjoy the day. It remains one of my favorite wedding celebrations to date!

“I remember the first time that I called Meagan at Magnolia Grove Weddings – I knew from the start that she was someone very special. I knew she was good at her job- I had seen her work and she planned a friend’s wedding, but I didn’t realize how incredible she actually was – not only as a professional, but also as what a wonderful person and friend. During our initial conversation and meeting, neither of us anticipated how drastic the world was going to change, and I was so excited about Meagan’s ability to translate my messy thoughts into a wedding more beautiful and special than beyond my craziest imagination (and within my budget!) The storyboard she created took all the elements that I talked about and pintrested, and built the most beautifully personalized dream wedding.

“Dave and I had our dream venue secured and Meagan pretty much took care of the rest. She provided recommendations on lighting, DJ and flowers, all who were easy to work with, accommodating and nice. Her team designed personalized octopus invitations and matching rehearsal dinner invites and managed all of RSVPs for both the wedding and the rehearsal dinner. Beyond the management of the wedding, she took the time to get to know me – she met and understood the dynamics of my relationship and friendships, what makes me tick (cake), and even attended my bachelorette party. She answered my crazy texts and phone calls with positivity and calmness and never let me stress out.

“As we continued to get closer to the date, we felt confident that in just a few short weeks, we were going to have our dream wedding. And then COVID-19 happened. I think I was the first client of Meagan’s to want to postpone – it was early – before the quarantine, back when kids were still in school and life was normal. I remember calling her and going back and forth on what to do – I had even gotten a case of hand sanitizer just in case we needed them at the wedding… oh how naive we were. We made the decision to postpone – hoping that things would be better in the fall.

“Meagan jumped into action, secured the venue for September and Every. Single. Vendor – flowers, lighting, DJ, food, linens, cake. She did it all so I didn’t have to, all while standing by my side while I mourned the day and drank wine. The pandemic has not gotten any better, and we have made the decision to postpone our September wedding, which has resulted in us losing our venue.

“Once again, Meagan has stepped in to help us weigh our options and is helping move forward. I could not be more thankful to have Meagan and the Magnolia Grove Weddings team on my side and standing with me through this process. There are truly no words to express my gratitude and admiration for the support I have been provided and I cannot thank Meagan enough for everything she has done and continues to do.” – Sam Perry

Q: What’s your title/position in your business?

A: Meagan Culkin, Owner, Planner and Designer

Q: What’s a fun fact about yourself?

A: Glitter and leopard print are my favorite colors

Q: What is your favorite thing about elopements?

A: I LOVE how they can be intentionally intimate and it allows you to make the day more personalized to the couple and their family.

Q: Tell us about your favorite elopement!

A: This past December, one of my COVID couples chose to go to Beaufort, NC to get married after 4 reschedules of their original wedding. Due to the fact that their parents are elderly and live out of state, they were only going to have 4 guests in attendance. Without the bride’s knowledge, we contacted her dream venue and her closest family and friends and arranged for them to get married at their dream location while all of her family and friends tuned in via Zoom. She was completely surprised and it was the perfect example of how elopements can still be highly personalized and incredibly special.
