As an on-site hair and makeup artist, there is nothing I love more than being part of the magic that makes you look and feel your best for your big day! From beauty junkies to simply sunscreen and chapstick wearers, it’s a joy to collaborate with my clients to bring out their natural beauty and make them feel special as they walk down the aisle or hike up a mountain to tie the knot.

Serving All of North Carolina

I’m from Cleveland, Ohio! The people who joke about it being awful have probably never been there because Cleveland truly has SO much to offer – a great food and beverage scene, arts and culture, it’s right on Lake Erie, there’s a national park. Sure, the winters are brutal but it’s a cool town. Trust me…but maybe only visit from, like, May to October.

My very first taste of being a makeup artist was working a couple Cleveland Fashion Week events back in 2010. I was incredibly green and those events felt way too big for my skill level at the time, but I knew that I had to figure out how to get better at it and keep doing more of it. That’s the beauty of makeup artistry – there is always room for growth and there’s always something to learn!

While I truly enjoy the beauty of all weddings, elopements have such a unique excitement. Perhaps it’s the unmistakable intimacy, or maybe it’s that tangible feeling of unconventionality, but I love the deeply personal characteristic of elopements. There’s nothing like it (says the girl who eloped herself)!

I’ve done some pretty cool things as a hair and makeup artist but the coolest thing for me was doing my little sister’s hair and makeup for her intimate wedding in 2018. Both of my sisters were my personal mannequin heads growing up – I was always braiding their hair or doing their makeup for dance recitals. But for Alex to be the bride in my chair was a full-circle moment for me and I’ll carry that (whirlwind) memory in my heart forever.

“I seriously can’t say enough good things about Kris! Not only is she insanely talented at what she does, but she feels like your new best friend from the moment you meet her! She is so sweet, bubbly, and made our entire getting ready process SO FUN. My bridesmaids all RAVED about their makeup, and I truly have never felt more beautiful than on my big day! She listened to what I wanted, made suggestions, and it was PERFECTION. I truly cannot recommend Kris enough!”

Q: What’s your title/position in your business?

A: Kris Bright, Owner and Lead Artist

Q: What’s a fun fact about yourself?

A: I’ve been fascinated with stars and constellations since I was a little first grader sitting in a big planetarium seat on a school field trip – Ursa Major was my first tattoo!

Q: What is your favorite thing about elopements?

A: As someone who had an elopement, there’s something so magical about paring it down, having JUST who you want to celebrate with, and making your day that much more intentional as you begin your new life with your partner in marriage!

Q: Tell us about your favorite elopement!

A: My own elopement will forever be a favorite and it’s why I will always encourage people to elope if they want to. The only way I can describe my autumn mountain-top elopement was that it was purely magical, more than I thought it might be. If you think you want to elope, DO IT.

Q: Is there a wedding detail on your bucket list?

A: Rock and Roll glam, hands down.
